Does anybody notice the bottom US insignia on A.O.? It looks too small and in the wrong place. Like many of my models.

That's a really greart promo video. I suppose I should check to see how close she'll get to Vancouver, BC.

B-17 Aluminum Overcast is touring in my area in October and I'm thinking of grabbing a seat. Anyone else had a chance to ride in her? Can you give a short overview?

Thanks

Dude, I vounteered when we had her here in Waukesha two years ago. Friggin' awesome. Couple your ride with a WWII B-17 Vet and I'll challenge you to keep a dry eye. 8) Get your chance with or without a Vet, if you can relate to being an 18 year old kid with a job to do in one of these, it will move you forever.

God bless those guys!

Image

This man walked with a cane on the ground.

Once we were in the air he didn't use it, and he NEVER a handhold all the way through the flight. Every bit of the interior of that aircraft was so locked in his muscle memory...and he hadn't been inside one since the war.

Every time I revisit this image, I wonder what he was seeing that the rest of us couldn't.

I have said it before, and I say it again; I cannot begin to imagine, the courage, or the fear, of flying into battle five miles high. Bless 'em all.
I like speaking and writing english. Thank you, is such and understatement.

Amen Gary.

I pull myself each way on whether or not to take my grandfather up in our 17 or 25. He did not fly full time with the 9th AF but flew some missions, 8 total I think he told me during the war. He was an ordnance officer.
On one hand, even at 94 years old he is in great physical shape. On the other it seems that early stages of Alzheimers or Dementia is setting in and I don't want him to get confused or have that fear from the war creep back.

Around Christmas time this last year I showed him a Mosin Nagant 91-30 rifle I bought myself for Christmas and on the ride back to my Grandparents apartment (about 1 hour ride) he thought he was back in the war and I was his Air Force driver driving an Air Force vehicle. My Grandmother giggled about it quietly in the back seat but I was honored to be his Air Force cheaufer that night.

What do you all think about taking him up?

Regards,
Mark the indecisive

ever think about just letting him sit in her a while when she's parked. I know there is a big difference but it might give you an idea of what to expect. I hope you get a chance to enjoy that experience with him though. I'd give any thing to take my dad up let alone my grandfather who have both passed.

Yeah, I think if I went up with him I would end up having to take 2 rides because I would miss everything because I would just be in awe watching him during the experience.
