44-83563 - N9563Z was a VB-17G staff transport.
44-83811 - ex-Israeli AF.
44-83877 - N5232V was a PB-1W.
44-83883 - N5229V was a PB-1W.

IIRC one of the Forts was used in TV series 12 O'Clock High. Isn't is also one and the same as the Picadilly Lilly being restored at Chino?
The web link didn't mention that everyone was arrested in Portugal a.) for not having a Visa and b.) having 50 caliber guns on board.
IIRC the Navy 17s were at Dallas Love Field serving as bird and snake condo's and they found a set of Ball Turrets in a Culver City movie studio warehouse.

None of the
War Lover birds were associated with
12 O'Clock High.
As for Caidin's account in
Everything But the Flak, it sure was good reading.

I gotta get that book. Read it several times from the library. A favorite from my child and teen years. Just brilliant!!!
