Please at least give Yanks credit for buying it, paying to get it ferriable and putting it on public display. It will be a pleasure for me to see it sitting in their yard. It adds that much more ambiance to the Chino Airport experience.

I'd like to see at least one of the old H&P Privateers preserved in her tanker configuration, and do water drops at airshows. I watched one do a water drop at an airshow back in the 80s..pretty spectacular!
Of course, I'd also love to see one restored back to full military config (complete with R-1830s) and painted in tri-color.
For now, I'm just glad they won't be left fading away in the Wyoming weeds.

WOW!! that is one nasty looking aircraft!! great job and a big hell yeah!! to all that got that thing back in the air. what a monster vertical fin!! very impressive!! lets hope that there is some way to keep it flying now that the price of fuel is getting back to more sane levels. great job guys !!

Im sure PoF would buy one if they had the money and a place to put it.
Its still sad to see it end its flying career like that it seems like they are making the same mistake that PoF made by letting there b-17 sit around on the ground. what a shame

POF did not have a choice with the B-17, there was a disagreement as to who owned the plane, the air force or POF, once te POF got the title to the plane, they started restoration to fly.

Matt, how did the POF get ownership of the B-17? 
And restoration was started almost 8 years ago. It jsut doesn't seem to be one of their most important projects. I can understand that, as they have a ton of stuff.

Here's a few photos of the newly arrived Yank's Consolidated Privateer at Chino. I took these on the afternoon of 23 Nov., 2008. This majestic beast takes up a LOT of ramp space! It is currently tied down outside of the Yanks compound; I'm not so sure that it can fit inside. Of course, this Privateer has had its original Pratt R-1830s replaced with Wright R-2600s, as have all existing Privateers that had to work for a living, to the best of my knowledge. These are wonderful, oil-dripping R-2600-29As with 1,700 hp each. B-I-G increase over the original 1,200 hp Pratts.
