I know its been a while so here are a few Christmas present pics of the SNJ-5C. A lot more than this has been done, just don't have time to post everything. Hopefully more pics in a few months...

That's some incredible work hand forming parts like that. I flew a Skydive 1958 C182 that was regularly used like a Stuka after the skydivers left the aircraft. One inspection showed massive corrosion hidden in the tail much like that wing section. Scary whats hidden below the paint. I'm lucky the tail never came off during the rather fast descents.

Great stuff! I'd love to be able to work with my hands on stuff like that. I sit in front of a computer 40+ hours a week, but back in the day (like 25 years ago tonight) I was in the garage putting the engine and trannie back in my 1970 Boss 302 Mustang that I had just finished rebuilding. I really miss it.

Thanks for sharing those pictures with us.

Great tutorial! Thanks for that. I only spotted one problem...It's too nice! I'm very jealous. :lol:

Please continue to keep us informed of your progress. I think the lowly T-6 sometimes doesn't get the credit it deserves with all those Spitfire and Mustang restorations out there.

Great work Chuck! Thanks for sharing. Why do my restored parts always look like the parts you throw out? :shock:

All I want for Christmas is $80 Dow stock and a pair of those seats you rebuilt!

Chuck,

Beautiful work! I used to make my form blocks from aluminum and radius them with a carbide router bit. Worked pretty slick. Ends of the intake manifold were done this way. I used a smaller aluminum block to clamp the piece and the AN fitting holes were where the clamp bolts were located.

I don't think that's going to be an issue for him, when your hangar is connected to your house..
