I saw his story on PBS when it first came out. I have always thought it was one of the best done accounts that I ever seen on film. Thank God for men like that. We will never again know the likes of men like that. Godspeed sir.

Indeed. Godspeed

His story was done well, a very personal account that stripped the "glory" away and showed the raw edge of what it was like to be there.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Another hero gone West...

I just saw this. Godspeed. I really enjoyed his interviews in The War. I'd like to see the other documentary he was featured in as well. What was that one called?

Perhaps it is Ken Burn's "The War" had a lot of his narrative in it, that you are thinking of. His story being "A Fighter Pilots Story"

The first one he was in about 10 years ago was "Fighter Pilots Story" on PBS. I'm not sure if its available on DVD.

"A Fighter Pilots Story" WAS available until PBS aired "The War", using watered down bits and pieces of the stark and sometimes graphic REAL war as told by a real pilot. PBS then pulled the DVD from sales? Didn't want to confuse people? Perhaps A Fighter Pilots Story was a bit too patriotic and Wave the Flag American for the PBS Brass!?
