Looks like the pictures came out pretty good. I see your dads house in the back ground in one of them. I am glad you had a great flying experience in Florida with Warbird Adventures and the Collings Foundation too. I had a blast flying with you.
BTW, I had breakfast at the diner across from your dad's neighborhood that you recommended and it was great! Fantastic redneck atmosphere.

What tipped you off on the redneck atmosphere? The one wall covered with a deer photo mural? Great food though, if you get a chance try the Key Lime pie when its available, best I ever had.

I thought the aircraft were damaged/destroyed in that last big hurricane down there? Been awhile since I saw the Warbird Adventure planes out!

Only two of them were damaged. The other two were on tour. Amazingly the two damaged aircraft are under rebuild to airworthy with one of them nearly complete when I was down there last month.

Those are some really neat pictures. How were those photos taken? Wing tip mounted camera? Or just some really awsome formation work. Did they put you up in the front seat right away (I think it's you in the front).

We have a bracket for a 35mm camera that is attached to the wingtip and faces inward. I click off of the pictures from the gun trigger on the stick whenever I think it would be a good place for a picture. We also do close formation but not for pictures like that in a loop!



Two of the SNJs in Kissimmee were heavily damaged and we have been working on them since last August. The #4 SNJ flew for the first time last week and it looks great. It has new wings, canopy, prop, tail surfaces, and lots of new sheet metal. The #1 SNJ is the center of attention now and should be done in a few months. The #2 and #3 SNJs were up in Aurora when the hurricane blew through and escaped damage. We have been operational the entire time since the hurricane and the rumours that we had shut down were lies spread from our (not so reputible) competitors.

I can remember my first visit to Kissimmee, I was by your hut when the phone rang, one of the pilots was walking to the aircraft when the phone rang "its your wife" came the call. "Cant stop now, gotta go flying" came the reply. That was cool on so many different levels

We get to do so many great things on a daily basis. It is really a dream job most of the time. Today I was instructing someone in their own T-6 preparing for the FAST clinic coming up this weekend. Ron Morrell joined up on us with his CJ-6 and we did a little formation work. It is just great to be around warbirds 7 days a week!

Great to hear you're digging the lifestyle Chuck

As a side note, do you have any idea what kind of hourly fuel cosumption a pilot gets out of a CJ-6? Love 'em, but not sure how much worse off they are versus an IO-360 type. I figure at least double.

I'm in Ft. Meyers for another week. If you fly through, let me know and I'll throw some bucks your way for a quick flight!

The Nanchang driver told me 12-14 gph for fuel burn and could go almost 3 hours before having to stop for fuel. Cruise is about 150 mph and he loves it.
I will be in Sebring at the FAST clininc for the extended weekend.
On a side note, Bob Tulius is selling his PT-22 if anyone is interested.

My Cj-6 gets around 15 gph in normal cruise, but leaned and low cruise is around 13 or so. Then again, if you want to go play seriously, it can get up to 18-20 gph. At 15gph, I usually see 150-155ktas. The planes usual shortfall is its 38 gallon fuel tanks, but ours has a 40 gallon aux tank in the fuselage that really extends the range. We were trying to sell her for a while, but I managed to talk my Dad into getting rid of the Chipmunk instead. I'm really going to miss that little chippy, but the CJ is just too sweet of a ride to get rid of.
