I have a brand new, sparkling clean, beautiful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 cylinder manufactured by Ford in 1944 displayed in my living room. I tell everyone that this piece is an example of true industrial art of the time, which it really is, as well as a real piece of history.

I have the control wheel "Boeing' cap that my dad pried off just before he left Guam in late August 1945.
One way to tell the real from the fakes.., is the smell.., it is unmistakable.., a sweet baked rubber smell.., ahhh bakolite!
Would like to get my hands on one from Martin and Bell.., but I will settle for this little puppy for now!

The father of an old friend of mine was a B-17 crew chief with the 8th AF. The night before he left England to come home to the States, he "liberated" the 8-day clock from the instrument panel of his ship. My buddy still has the clock, and it still keeps perfect time!
Cheers!

Looks like you have enough spares to support every T-6 in the U.S. for 300 years!
Did you get those from Ed Kaleta?
Thu May 07, 2009 11:30 pm
Don't remember the man's name, but it wasn't Ed. I've heard a few stories about his though.
(BDK, I found another G forward, so that makes a complete set. I'll send you pictures this weekend)

A guy brought me 13 T-6 canopies and asked me how much they were worth. After looking at your picture, I guess the answer is not much.
