Cliff,

I have a photo that my dad took back in 1972 of 2827 when he and I attended the last airshow at GSW airport. If you'd like I can send it to you for use on your website.

Oh yeah, I would be happy to post it on my site!

Thanks!

Strange...it's gone out of my Imageshack account. I might have to scan it again. I'll check my other system at home first to be sure.

My Dad was a flight engineer on KC-97 tankers in the early '50s. In an attempt to lure him into staying in the USAF after the Korean war, he was talked into taking a flight in a B-36 in 1952. This flight was from Florida to Turkey and return, 32 hours in the air. This flight finally convinced my Dad to get out of the Air Force, not stay in! .

And here she is in front of the General Dynamics south gate in her former museum setting:

Speaking of the Ficon project, I once built a 1/72nd scale GRB-36D with the RF-84K hanging on the trapeze. It hung in our TV room. One evening a neigbor stopped in for a quick visit, and when he saw the models hanging from the ceiling he exclaimed "Hey, that was MY B-36!" Turns out he was a flight engineer and flew a number of FICON missions. At the end of the FICON program the ten GRBs were flown directly to Davis Monthan and were among the first B-36s dismantled during the wind-down of the fleet.
