One thing I really cannot stand is that you cannot even post a title like To heck and Back or darn the Defiant without editing. I can understand if you don't want people spouting invective but to censor published titles or quotes is going too far.

John, that is a feature of an automatic filter which alters text to maintain a PG-13(or somesuch) content. In order to
go around it, you have to be a bit creative.
"To He11 and Back" or "Dam the Defiant" for example.

EDIT
Or maybe a better approach..."Dam(n) the Defiant"

Actually I dont think its that complicated at all.

Here are the Wix rules
http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5

Here are the rules from KeyPublishing or FlyPast forums
http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=27963

Despite a different approach to presenting the rules, they are effectively the same in terms of unacceptable behaviour and the consequences.
...
whats so hard about that?

Mark, I too am a member of the above said forums. I have also noticed much less disrupted behavior in FP.

To answer your question...(whats so hard about that?) Nothing really... I just don't understand why WIX has issues and FP does not.
I just don’t know how this discussion/poll will change people’s behavior on WIX. (if that is the only difference between the 2 sites.)
People's behavior is really the only thing no one has control over. So perhaps banning is the only answer...

Perhaps the 3 strikes your out will modify poople's behavior... we just need something...
Best Regards,
Paul

I have long said that three warnings should be a strike. One strike should be a week long ban. Three strikes should be a permaban. IMO, of course.

FP did at some point have issues from my perspective. And many went away for this

All for it ( mods that is ) after all and as was obviously stated by many.... What is so hard with those basic rules....nothing.

Behave & enjoy.....

Do not behave....bye-bye.

I don't come here to read about Boeing 777 wing testing, your uncle Wally (who served so honorably) passing on the weekend, that oh so funny vid on YouTube, airliners crashing into the Hudson, or much of the non-Warbird dribble that seems to creep into the forum on a regular basis. The web is full of places for such things - there really is only one good international warbird forum and we all joined because of that.

Exactly! Well said. Far too many on this forum act like undisciplined juveniles. I am also sick and tired of the patrioteering and boasting as well as the appalling ignorance of some posters and that is why I am leaving WIX. There are some star posters, and I wish them well. Goodbye.

'pears to me that this is exactly the kind of "name calling" that we're talking about. Just because you think it, doesn't mean you have to express it.

BYE!

Mudge the undisciplined, ignorant, boastful patriot

(I can't claim juvenile. I turned 74 yesterday  )

Sorry, but anyone's Uncle Wally, who served honorably, is what the Warbird movement is all about! Also, I find it ironic, because I consider it juvenile and narcissistic to announce to [mostly] total strangers that you are leaving a message board.

Besides their sad passings, I'd like to hear about anyone's Aunt Millie who helped build WW2 aircraft, or Aunt Nellie who ferried them overseas.

Carry on.

Rich

I am not into the B-777s, but I do enjoy the stories about relatives, when it applies to aircraft. Without the framework of their history, they are just an amalgamation of nutrs and bolts & metal all flying in beautiful close formation.

As top your last comment, well, if ya can't take the heat, don't let the door hit ya. But do come back if you miss us! :)

Sorry guys, what I was referring to were the recent posts of totally non-warbird related passing’s and the odd Hollywood superstar that just don't belong here. I was in no way being trying to be disrespectful, rather pointing out this is not the place - obviously the Mods agree if you scan back a few of the topic pages you will see many obits have been moved as being off topic.

Straying off topic just hurts the forum, I supposed we could have discussions about the downfall GM as they built Warbirds in WWII but that does nothing to enhance the forum or the reason it exists.

I have donated cash to Scott and supported this forum since inception as I value it as a resource for my projects and interests. In the past few months, I have seen it getting better and stronger - apparently behind the scenes this may not be the case and this saddens me.
