Since people seem to think that the off-topic section is for political discussion, something that is frowned upon, I have temporarily closed the section. ANY political discussions in any other forum will be deleted and the user suspended. I have had it with the politically motivated comments.

And Chris can't delete his. You can't edit or delete posts in the "Off Topic" section.
Here is a more politically neutral offering that relates to this topic (with apologies to "Tennessee Ernie Ford):
Some people say a man is made outta mud
A poor man’s made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that’s a-weak and a back that’s strong
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me ’cause I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one mornin’ when the sun didn’t shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said “Well, a-bless my soul”
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me ’cause I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one mornin’, it was drizzlin’ rain
Fightin’ and trouble are my middle name
I was raised in the canebrake by an ol’ mama lion
Cain’t no-a high-toned woman make me walk the line
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me ’cause I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store
If you see me comin’, better step aside
A lotta men didn’t, a lotta men died
One fist of iron, the other of steel
If the right one don’t a-get you
Then the left one will
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me ’cause I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store

I'm starting to implement my "Two Check" plan- The first paycheck each month goes to the current bills- the second one will be utilized(in the most part) to destroy some of my debt- I intend to get rid of Radio Shack & Chase Visa BOTH.... Then onto the car payments, and all that will be left is my student loan. Other than the Student Loans, I only owe around 15k, so I anticipate somewhere around a year to get rid of it all...

When I was getting ready to retire from the Arrrrmy, I got rid of ALL of my credit cards (Visa, Sears, Penneys, Discover, AmEx, Optima, etc.) except one - my Master Card from USAA. The APR has actually decreased over the years to 5%, and the credit limit has gone up. Quite satisfied with it, and pay it off (

) each month, with no carryover balance. Works for me!

Welcome to the USSA and the state run private sector.
This is standard operating procedure for the robber barons. Get a USAA visa card. USAA is a bank run by former Military officers and they run a tight ship.
Thanks for the comedy tour A2C.

I've had a USAA card for over 20 years and have had nothing but great service from them.

I've had a USAA card for over 20 years and have had nothing but great service from them.
I also have my mortgage with them and they have not SOLD it to another company either. I venture to say USAA is THE BEST run corporation in America. They won't try and rip you off which is standard operting procedure for the chase banks of the world.
USAA Savings Bank didn't need a bailout either as far as I know.

Good show! Make a plan and stick to it. You'll wonder how you ended up with all that debt 5 years from now. That 8 to 20% you were paying goes right into your pocket as savings.

Paying MORE than 8-20: Chase & Radio Shack are both in the 5-29% range.
And my other card is USAA- I Pretty well love USAA... Been a member for years

Never pay minium due! Always pay more than what they are asking you to pay!
Target the biggest card first and get it paid off, then transfer that payment to the next one, along with the normal amount you will pay on it and so on until they are all gone!
Worked for me, other than a small personal loan, I am credit card free! Except for Macy's, I have to have clothes!
