Apparently, at one time, he lived a dozen blocks from my house.
He may have ferried my plane from the 'south'.

Apart from the Bearcat he also owned several Mustangs in the 70s. N2051D, N11T, N6523D, and the pieces of N36FF which Plaskett later rebuilt into a TF. He also raced in Reno if I'm not mistaken. What went wrong in his T-28 accident?

A&P screw up. They replaced all the oil lines and left one connector loose.
It came off in flight and all the oil dumped leading to catostraphic engine failure around a forest area :(

Chris: Nice to see these old photos. Didn't you use to have a photo of B-23 N747M in the cool blue colors on you website?

Lynn: Bill Anders. This a/c went through the "who's who" in warbirds before he bought it.

Jack: Sh!tty deal!!! When did it happen? I remember reading about it when it occured, but years go by so fast I can't believe it at times.

That was around Oct 2003 I'm thinking.
His Bearcat became Wampus Cat.

darn shame.., the NTSB report makes me think of what my father used to say...

'accidents just don't happen.., they are made to happen'.

John used to put on great acrobatic displays with the P-51D and the T-28B 8)

???

John raced his F8F and P-51 at Reno besides Sam Richardson's R-2000 YAK-11.
BTW in that Fresno photo on the ramp can be seen a Guardian ,
Bill Compton's F6F-3 N4965V and Jack Lenhardt's FM-2 N20HA. 8)
