Neat machine. Interesting how the NMUSAF saved it from being scrapped completely, yet with some other jets that are trying to be saved, they.............
Oh, nevermind.
Thanks for posting this though. That's a pretty cool machine.

A great shot of the airframe during the recovery. Seeing it at the museum last month was one of the highlights of my visit last month.
I have long speculated on what color schemes it would have carried it had it reached service, as well as what missions it would have had. Several months ago (in an insane endeavor) I created some "what if" drawings of B-60s in service and F-100s in various NATO markings. I have started the same "what if" with the F-90, the first being a Red Bulls (87th FIS) "F-90A". If nothing else maybe everyone can have a good laugh.

B-60s? Let's see 'em! (I always wanted to build the Monogram B-36 as a borate bomber, so I know where you're coming from.)

Those are fascinating photos.... What I am really curious about is the skins. Clearly they deskinned the bird to clean her out of all the potential nuclear dust, but then when you see the pictures of her at Wright-Pat, the skins look like they've magically been riveted back on. Was some sort of specially fastener used to mount skins for this project, or did they just tack the skins on in a few places to ship her out... it's very weird, as the skins do all seem to be back in place with few exceptions in the WPAFB photos. Thanks for posting!
Cheers,
Richard

When it comes to the XF-90 there is only one word I can say...
HAWKAAAAAA!!!!!
And while I can certainly appreciate the above livery for the XF-90, here is the XF-90 as it is meant to be.

Speaking of what ifs... Does anyone know of a site that specializes in what if images? Maybe a modeling site? I have always wanted to see P-47s, F-86s and F-100s in Israeli markings for example or the P-80 in 8th AF or 20th AF combat markings for another.
