This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Correct - the P 38, A 20, Tigercat and a few others ( including Bearcat currently for sale) were kept by the founder of the museum. I assume he was holding on to these to get a little return on the investment of so many others that he financed and donated, including Thunderbird, Special Delivery, Tarheel Hal, F6F and several of the other flyers and statics that have been transfered directly to the musuem. While it was certinaly sad to see them go I can't complain considering the value of what he has turned over to LSFM over the years.

Here's peek into Alan's excellent paint shop. As someone who loves to study old wartime photos and markings details, I think this F4U is going to be one of the slickest combat schemes I've seen applied to a later model Corsair in recent memory. It's sure to confuse a lot of show goers though.

With permission I'll be posting some images after the roll out in about two weeks.

Well lets hope its a USN AU-1 scheme or maybe the French Suez Canal scheme with yellow and black stripes...I can only dream!!!

I kinda like the new color scheme of ol Putt Putt. I hate to see aircraft leave the collection but then if they're going to be flown instead of giving us wing wiping practice, go for it!
Nice roll bar, Edward.

I like the fact that it's the brownish olive drab vs. the greener shade that they used on Glacier Girl. believe an artist in SoCal is doing the noseart. Maybe out at Chino.

That looks great. Thoughts of Midnight will be a great choice. Can't wait to see the finished nose art!!

Is Gary Valesco doing the painting?

If so, it'd be entirely appropriate considering Charles MacDonald was their CO - twice I think! Does that make three P-38s on hand for the event, including Glacier Girl getting her maintenance there now? Any other P-38s slated for the event?
Don't forget the Vintage Fighters P-38 also based at Chino, for a total of four flyable assuming GG and Friedkin's airplanes are present as well as "23 Skidoo".

I heard that Rod Lewis just bought this airplane. Can anyone confirm this

I don't think the spirit of Texas herself would allow Rod Lewis to have two, and the Friedkins to have none.
