Hi All,
If I may offer my two cents here. Based on only seeing the damage from the photo, it would appear that the damage is mostly fairing and leading edge of the win. But I say that based soley on the premise that the front wing spar still may have signifigant damage to it give the position of the left main gear fitting/trunion assembly. Now, if the impact was severe enough, then the potential exists that the spar itself took some damage and may have defects in it that perhaps techniques found in NDT/NDI inspection could reveal further to help determine the true extent.
Additionally, what wou probably be best suited for the airframe is to have it "shot on a transit" to determine wing and fuselage deformation and determine how "true" the assembly is prior to repair and rework. Again, I speak soley from the idea that when an impact of this nature occurs, it is best to see if the airframe is still "true" prior to repair. If the aircrfarme and wings are still true and within spec's then rework and repair should be rather straight forward and simple. As to the engine mount attachment and the pontential for damage to the area....that is also something the truly needs to be adressedd as well. Visual and NDI/NDT techniques should play a part in those inspections along with a well trained eye for structure work.
Only my two cents here, but based on the photo's and from what I see from the pictucres...this is totally reparable. And the big plus is if the engine wasn't turning or making power...that is huge and will save many many dollars in the rebuild. Let's put it this way...this is bad, perhaps near as bad as it gets...but I can say that I have seen worse and it has been repairable.
Thanks for reading.
