Photo Editting - Digital ICE

Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:46 pm

I was given an inexpensive negative/slide scanner for Christmas. It seems to do a good job, except it has no features to automatically correct for dust and scratches.

I heard Digital ICE is a great dust and scratch marker remover, but I am getting the impression it is only comes integrated with hardware.

Are there any good dust and software scratch remover software packages out there? I am guessing you guys will point me to Photoshop plug-ins, but are there any stand-alone packages?

Mike

You are right about ICE. It requires hardware support.

Here's a write-up of a stand alone freeware dust/scratch tool you might try:

You may however have difficulty obtaining the program. The publisher, Polaroid, no longer distributes it and the Internet Archive links given at alphatracks may no longer be working. I suggest searching for the file name, pdsr1_0.exe, on google or one of the file seaching sites such as filestube.

Great tip! Thanks.

I found a copy of the Polaroid program. It can be downloaded from here...

It works fairly well and is simple to use.
