That would be a very interesting project. I would say that anyone looking to restore a/the Widow should get in touch w/ the MAAM... I know the NASM example was never rebuilt like the MAAM's plane. (I dont know about the NMUSAF example).

MAAM has all the jigs, and 20 years of experience...

I am not familiar with the Chinese restoration scene, but a/the widow will be a huge undertaking for any restoration group.

My own guess is that that plane will likely be reassembled with a fresh coat of paint and put back on display at some point.

I sent an email to a Chinese Air Traffic Controller friend in PEK and asked him to do some checking on the bird. As you can see on Google Earth is it about 400 yards south of it's previous location. It'd just south of the new academic building. Here is a Chinese blog he sent me to. You will need bablefish or something to translate it to english.

My Chinese friends send so many of those flashy things in their emails, SMSs etc. I have have trained myself to ignor them. I will have to untrain myself. That could be difficult though.
