Why I have a problem with NHC Exhibit #1

I have to agree, Mark, you make some very good points! Your train of thought seems to continue on the same line as Robs and others here on the WIX. A sticky with an electronic petition and one with a list of mailing/e-mail addresses of senators and congressmen for an all out web assault on faulty NHC policies that allow national artifacts and treasures to deteriorate to an unsalvageable/unsaveable state. This might just be the ticket to get some attention on the subject. At least as a first campaign. I had a talk with Rob today and I like some of his ideas, which I believe he will bring up to you personally.

Some of the best idea coalescence since I have been here. Here is something people CAN do from their PC's, something that Rob Rohr can orchestrate with his knowledge, and something which WILL put WIX on the map as a serious entity in the warbird community, which I consider it as already.
The ideas of a WIX aircraft going to a show are more realistic with the increased membership we would have by doing such an important chore in the AVIATION heritage of the world. Chime in, everybody- I'm putting up the POLL today.

Wow ! Dave you have apparently found a completely unknown Brewster on EASTER Island !! The one Rob was describing is in the lagoon off of Eastern Island, Midway !!

I am afraid your incorrect in regard to this, Dave is simply adjusting the nominated location to allow for the effects of El Nino ocean currents in relocating the wreck in the 20 years since Rob notified NHC!!

Dave, I think its amazing how well the markings have been preserved!

As for your Question Glenn Easter Island only has five aircraft sitting in the lagoon one is the Brewster which is the close aircrfat to shore

I had the same problem , Dave. I couldn't figure out why Brewsters would be at Easter Island. When I read part of the Navy accident/action report that Rob posted and saw [i]eastern island, Midway,it all made sense !

like i say on the quote portion of every post i make......" if we all had as much foresight as we do hindsight we'd all be alot better off" the u.s. naval aviation museum should be made to write this 100 million times on the chalkboard like a bunch of immature school kids who can't learn a lesson. significant pieces of history are rotting by the second, daily, worldwide!!! if they are a grave site i respect that aspect, bury the dead & otherwise hands off. if no fatalities are involved then let's yank em up!!! it is freakin ridiculous to leave anything historically significant to rot underwater. what segment of the warbird community, or the rest of the people worldwide are certified divers that can go down & appreciate these sites???? i don't see any huge tour submarines around catering to tourists / historians anywhere. right now what percentage of the world population that really cared about the stuff could go see it underwater & appreciate it's historical value??? maybe 1/2 a percent???? seriously, i have no clue, but i hope you all get the crux of what i'm trying to convey from my heart as an aviation historian. regards, tom friedman
