Air Expo 2005 photos

Mon Jul 25, 2005 11:22 pm

Here is a selection of photos from this past weekend at the Air Expo in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. I'll go out on a limb and say this was their best show so far (of the past 6 years I've attended).

Great photos!

Brian, the F-86 now belongs to the city of Lakeville. It has been stored in the open on a farm for the last year or so.

I talked to the people planning on setting up the memorial in Lakeville and they plan on building a shelter for the aircraft as the first stage of the memorial, with later plans to bring the aircraft up to airworthy condition.

From what they said, the plane last flew in 1969. When they opened the canopy recently, they found the pilot's helmet and parachute still in the cockpit. The plane contained it original engine, instruments, and even it's batteries were still onboard. It's an extremely well preserved airframe. (The paint job is recent, however.)
