Has anyone been to this site? http://www.criticalpast.com/ I just discovered it. There are tons of videos I've never seen before! Just a quick search for "B-29" for example brings up 273 clips  Some are stock footage and are without sound... But I just made the best of it by making my own airplane sounds

Neat source...thanks for posting.

But I made the mistake of surfing through some of the B-29 newsreels. WIXers will have fun correctly identifying the mis-identified material (and there's a lot of it!). You can edit the descriptions and contact the editors with your corrections.

My "good Samaritan" for today was editing this piece:

Identified as a B-29 landing at Wright Field in Ohio :!:    , it is actually 44-27354, "Dave's Dream", landing back at Kwajalein after dropping the first of the Bikini Atoll atom bombs on July 1, 1946. The pilot was fellow cheesehead Maj. Woodrow Swancutt. "Dave's Dream" also happened to be the former "Big Stink" used as a photo ship on the Aug. 9 raid to Nagasaki.

Have fun...but don't say I didn't warn you.

Argh, I HATE you... now I'll NEVER get any work done   8)

This a cool site... thanks for sharing. Like Dan K said, lots of mistakes. When I looked at This Video it said P-38's flying and landing. There are P-38's but it starts with P-61s!! So I'll be adding THAT little note :)

Yeah, I just found it the other day! A friend sent me a link to a newsreel featuring CHAA's Yale 3399 front and centre.

However they had mis-identified the Yales as Harvards... I fixed that.
