According to their website the facility has been sold. Any news as to who the new owner is? Chuck, can you enlighten us?

The new owner has been in negotiations for quite a while now and the old place shouls be vacant by the end of the year. I am not sure that I am at liberty to say who the new owner is but he is quite involved with Stallion 51. The new museum should be open in the next few years. It is very exciting news!

Thanks for the info Chuck. What will happen to all the airframes there?

The S2, F-104, and Mig 21 will stay and be repaired and painted up for static display at the new facility. All of the other planes will have to be moved away by their owners. The derilict aircraft will be taken away. I am sure that you could buy one if you wanted it. The place will be cleared in preparation for several new hangars to be built.

The new museum should be full of WWII aircraft and you already know that the aircraft hangared at Stallion 51 are all flyable, so we are assuming the same to be true of the new museum. I hope it will be "Chino on the east coast" and a huge world wide attraction.

As you can see in this picture it is more of a collection of parts...

...than air frame. However as I understand it, all the parts came from one airframe.

I look forward to any comments regarding this as well. You would hope it would go to someone wanting a P-38 project. I would hate to see an ID disappear with the parts going to all corners of the world.

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.
