Which brings up a question, what happens to the 747 after the last Shuttle is dropped of at the last qualifying museum? Udvar or Budweisers?

My guess it'll be kept on charge for at least a little while as it's been used for more than just moving Shuttles. It recently moved the new Phantom Ray to Edwards for flight testing for example.

well, it looks like my middle school won't get a shuttle, but at least we got one of these coming:

As much as I enjoy and support the NMUSAF, I'm not wild about the way they propose to display the Shuttle...sitting at one end of a hanger amongst other aircraft almost as an after-thought. As monumental as the Shuttle is, it is almost deserving of it's own display area...sectioned off and dedicated to space-flight. Just my opinion (and not my money)...

Thanks for your effects on getting a shuttle.

It would have been nice to be able to just drive into town to see it but getting a tile is cool.

First, the Kennedy Space Center display proposal is just frikkin' awesome.
Second, interesting how the artists' concepts reinforce conventional wisdom about where the Orbiters are going. Atlantis to NMUSAF, Enterprise to one of the private museums or Huntsville. Discovery in Tulsa is just wishful thinking tho.
