I ride a VICTORY VISION and have had a few Milwaukie Middlebuster riders ask 'what is that?'-I take a few seconds to look over the length of my ride, look over @ the Flintstones idea of a motorcycle, drop mine into gear and reply 'A much better motorcycle' and ride off.
I tell HardeeHarHar riders when parked, that if they like their 1956 technology scooter, to not test ride a VICTORY because I guarantee if they do, the first thing they'll do when they get off the VV is to go over and kick that Hawg right square in the gas tank! I found that Harley riders suffer from inadequacy issues because everything they own is branded, when I ask 'em how much they are being paid to advertise for the manufacturer, most of them don't quite 'get it'-kind of like Jeff Gordon fans. A plus factor is I don't see myself coming down the street 100 times in a mile like Harley and CAMARO owners do.
My absolute first ride was on a 650 BONNIE when I was 14, scared the crap out of my mother!

A Harley is the best 1930's motorcycle that money can buy. If you keep that in mind, they can be a lot of fun to ride.

Or even owning one at all. You can just buy all of the branded crap, then explain that your bike is (perpetually) in the shop. No one will question it if you are wearing enough overpriced black with eagles on it.

OK...OK...Sorry I got us off on the bike vs motorcycle tangent. Let's just concede that whatever you're riding it's better than any other bike/motorcycle 'cause this has gotten like arguing religion and politics. ie. Ain't nobody gonna' change anybody's mind.

Somewhere in my box 'o stuff in storage, I have an ad out of Road & Track or Car & Driver.

Was for Champion Spark Plugs. Had a Ford Mustang parked in front of a P-51 doing an engine run-up. Said "Champion puts the KICK in Mustangs!".

Always thought that was cool.

In the new Spitfire book I got for Christmas, there was a Spitfire car ad with the car painted up with camouflage and roundels on the side, the caption for the ad reading "What was it like going up in a Spitfire?" and a whole paragraph nin flight terms of what it was like to 'fly' a Spitfire down the road....it ended with "Never before in the history of driving has so much been enjoyed for so little..." I had always heard that the Spitfire car was Britain's revenge on the US for sending so many Yanks over there...

A recent ad on Yahoo for one company's insurance featured a bunch of British painted Wildcats and a P-40 zipping across the screen....I thought THAT unusual but enjoyable....computer generated of course.
