while revealing a treasure trove of relics is fascinating, the desecration of war graves is beyond civility. the grudge the eastern europeans hold is notable, but not excusable.

Ok guys,lets all take a deep breath and calm down.If you dont like me,So what?get over it.We are in no position to judge these peoples actions or opinions because we never had to deal with what they and their familes did.We are making judgements from the warm rooms of or nice houses,typing on our expensive computers ,drink warm coffee or hot chocolate.Like it or not,Their land,Homes,and families were destroyed by the German invaders.I dont know about you,but if this was my legacy,concern for German war dead would be very low on my priority list.I'm not claiming that I stand for desecration of war graves but if you were in their shoes would you give a darn?.This has nothing to do with Bataan,pearl harbor nor fighting in Belgium.We cant walk out our front door and find human remains scattered all over the place.they can.I'm just trying to point out why they might not give a darn and I'm not saying that we should dig up all war dead.They have been there and we havent.Give me a break!If you still wanna kill me,Come well armed

86.... happy new year!!! this is nothing on you. you only brought out something you stumbled on. yes, some feathers are ruffled from others because of it. just goes to show there are alot of wounds still unhealed after 70 + years & still irritates alot of people. the holocaust / jewish thing, atrocities, etc will go on in memory, while not positive in thinking about it, it's relevent to keep it in the minds of all to hopefully prevent a repeat of a horrible mistake. i take no offense to your post.

If you bounce around enough you can see that there are folks there who also are trying to recover the dead from the war. I'd imagine it must be somewhat similar to those who search old Civil War battlefields in the US. Are there scavengers and folks out to make a quick buck? Sure. But I have to believe there are folks also searching for the history, and maybe to bring the fallen home.

I wonder how many of us, given the opportunity to search an old WW2 battlefield in our own back yard, wouldn't be there in a heart beat?

Hmmm...a thought inducing dilemma for sure.

I have witnessed the desecration of Confederate soldiers graves right here in Virginia. Maybe not to the extent of which is brought up in this post. Why would anyone put an American flag on the grave of a Confederate soldier? Think about it before you decide to flame me or threaten me with a beating with a wet noodle. The Confederate soldiers did not die fighting for that flag, but rather the cause of the South...to keep the Yankees noses out of our business. And, if ya really want to do some in-depth studying, learn about how many of those dead soldiers were slave owners...not very many at all.

I am certainly not in any way offended by the American flag...just the opposite in fact. You may have the right to burn it or desecrate it and I have the right to put my foot in your a$$ if I witness you doing it!

So if i go to some remote island in the south pacific is it ok to dig up some graves to make a few bucks? After all the Japanese killed my uncle so now it's ok right? I am now in their shoes because they took one of my family members. I can't walk out my front door to a battle field so i would have to go there. Nobody wants to harm anybody here and it seems silly. Now go back to your water purification unit and watch a nice episode of the golden girls and let the fallen soldiers rest.
