Chinese Warbird

Sat Jan 22, 2011 2:55 am

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd post a couple of pictures of our Nanchang in her new colors. Before anybody gets wound up about the markings, they're decals, designed to come off fairly often to be replaced. The paint scheme is entirely spurious, meant just for fun and to go with as many new marking schemes as we can dream up. I lost the toss so this year she's in Royal Cambodian Air Force (RCAF - get it?) markings (sort of) as that's where my partner spends his winters while I stay home and do maintenance. I get to pick our next nationality, maybe this spring, maybe next, and I'm taking suggestions!

cheers,
Dan

I have always wanted to paint a CJ up like a corsair. Maybe with a checkerboard cowling.
The nanchang is one of the great deals in aviation.

Actually the tug is in Seventh Air Force markings - the markings of a P-61 from the 6FS/318 FG, based at Tinian in '45. :D
