I loved my visit to the museum and I would really encourage anyone and everyone to visit if you are in the area. It is well worth the long side trip off the highways to get there. The crew working there really makes you feel welcome.
I can't wait to get back and see the progress they are making.

Top turret shell - bottom steel channel replaced due to rust.

Bomb bay showing one of the bomb racks. The team had to make 3 of the 4 racks.

Yes, It's an incredible projet and they built from scratch the nose section and the radio room section.
Unfortunatly, they don't (yet ?) move the webcam to the new hangar.
It's was a real pleasure to come each week (or each day) to see the progress made.(And some time watching the work live: for example I spent almost a day watching them skinning the waist section

)
I like this sort of communication around a restoration project.

Well it looks like this project is well on its way to a succesful completeion. Hopefully they'll try there hands at a B-24 afterwards.

Talk about building a B-17 from scratch! I know those guys didn't have much to start with. Very impressive workmanship. Like someone mentioned, maybe they'd be interested in a B-24 project when they get this one done?
