Very cool project! Awesome looking airplane! At least there are more 190s to follow progress reports on at Meier Motors! I can't wait to see the D9 project with the Jumo engine!! I got to see it (Black 12) when it was at Kissimmee!

7th March 2011 the second and last sortie of the day. Achim took the AT-6 to take some air-to-air shots with the fighter. But at first lets say Hello to the important guest at the MeierMotors shop

Don Anklin, warbirdpilot and "right hand" of Jerry Yagen inspects the work and got his "flyout" on that ship. Lot of information and details. @Don it was a pleasure to meet you ! What a man !





and of course a check flight with Marc Mathis .... from the left, Marc Mathis, Don Anklin, Achim Meier, Uwe Glaser (photographer air-to-air) and Raimund Riedmann, Red-Bull pilot (Corsair, P38, DC6 and so on)

Friends that was the story of "my" Focke Wulf Fw190 A8/M D-FMFW

Dear Jerry, hope you will have a lot of fun with this fighter, and please when you find the time, after a flight or so, say "regards from Matthias from Germany" , would be fine. As I said, I will miss the fighter .....

That blown canopy is the styling touch that brought perfection to the standard Fw-190 design. Jerry's bird is the finest looking Flug Werk 190 flying so far in my opinion. Can't WAIT to see it fly in the USA. Its second only to the F4U in my book! Here's hoping they take it to Oshkosh this year. Maybe a Yagen, Frasca, Allen display? Is there a fourth ship flying that I'm forgetting about?

@Rob: Not flying yet (AFAIK), but not far from it, maybe flying early enough to make it to Oshkosh is Dan Kirkland´s (Dano here on WIX) one. It has a very nice camouflage scheme as well, the one of Pips Priller.

It would make a nice "Schwarm" (4 ship formation, 2 are a "Rotte").

Oh my! So much FW richness on the horizon! Its thrilling to see the whole Flug Werk concept finally coming to fruition on a grand scale. How long has it been since Claus Colling and his partner first put the business together? Late 1990's?

There was another that was recently damaged in a ground accident. (Gear folded up) I forget who the owner is but it's the one that had the entire engine/cowl/prop assembly off of a Tu-2 or some other Russian bomber.

'Ours' should have arrived in port tonight and will be at Omaka soon to be put together and test flown. It is the first that flew ( back in 2004) and wears the colours of Rudorffer.

Oh my! So much FW richness on the horizon! Its thrilling to see the whole Flug Werk concept finally coming to fruition on a grand scale.

Its not a Flugwerk anymore ! As you can see, the fighter is registered as Focke Wulf Fw190 A8/M and "M" stands for MeierMotors. To get the plane safe, relieable and flyable MeierMotors had to go their own way and the task was to construct lot of things new : new gear (and suspension), oilsystem, flapactuators, electric system, fuelsystem, optimize the airflow, stab, enginecontrol andandandand ........ If you count the details.... Flugwerk was a "good idea", but to get a relieable and flyable aircraft, the owner has to invest a lot of own ideas and of course lot of work. So the D-FMFW is a new aircraft with lot of new constructions and the LBA (comparable with the FAA) gave the new typ Focke Wulf Fw190 A8/M to MeierMotors as they registered the plane. Of course every effort, change or new construction was disussed and prooved by the LBA. The LBA checked often the efforts and Dieter Thomas "Flight Systems" made all the paperwork for the government.

How long has it been since Claus Colling and his partner first put the business together? Late 1990's?

How much Flugwerk 190 are in really flyable and relieable conditions ? Will say without any problems concerning temperatures and big maintenace efforts ? I would say in this second its only Jerry Yagens fighter

And for sure, I hope I can see a "Schwarm" Fw190 hammering over an airfield at an airshow. Please, I am looking for a "money-tree" in my garden so that it is not a problem to visit you in the States, New Zealand or whereever !
