New Grissom Air Museum website

Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:28 pm

In an effort to update the museum a bit, we built a new website for them. Please take a minute and check it out. We are still working out the final parts here and there, but overall, it looks great!

Haha, its a vast improvement on the older one! (as most website redesigns are) Did Django create the new logo?

One fairly small critique is the background image of Miss Liberty Bell with the glowing edges and other effects. I think it takes away from the rest of the design of the site. I'd put a a more subtle gradient, color, or texture. But other than that SUPER! Hope to have something similar for our museum.

THanks. Yeah that is Django's work. The site also will have more features down the road such as an online store and other items. I will take a look at the background.

Have to confess, hadn't seen the other. This looks good and is informative as well as nicely done. I do agree with Christopher about the background. And Django......logo design is great (as always).

Good Luck to y'all and the Museum. :)

Great stuff. I'd love to see pictures of the actual airplanes inside and out and a history of the display aircraft, not a general history of i.e. B-17's...

Thanks for the compliments on the logo!

I agree with the comments on the background. It's not sophisticated enough. I'll send you an email Chris...

I think the history of the type is still important, but I do think it is important to have aircraft histories for all of the aircraft.

Indeed, great logo! It is all looking so much better. Now to get the old girls looking better and eventually out of the weather.

Hi Chris,

I agree with Scott and Django. Any info that could be provided about each individual aircraft's history would be good to have listed, but otherwise I think you guys are doing a great job!

One question for you, (not to drag this too far off topic), but can you verify the serial number on the Grissom F-89. It looks like maybe this one came from Chino, as "53-2601" was listed in the Planes of Fame inventory, but Andy Marden listed that Scorpion's true serial as 52-1953. Maybe you have the "real" 53-2601, but if it came from Chino, that may not be it's true identity.

Let me know what you find out...I'm finding I have a soft spot for these early jets.

Thanks,

Steve

Hello Chris... I had to rejoin WIX as my old info wouldnt work!!
I left you an email on the new GAM website, its a big improvement, well done to all.

Message for Chris Sheppard and the side view of MLB you just posted. Some time ago I emailed you but had no response? Will you be offering copies of this as a print? If so how much?
Being closely involved with the MLB story over here in UK, this would be a great addition to have. Hope you'll let me know the news on this side view drawing of GAM's 17.

Thanks
