PX officer confirmed that the "Save the Rose" engine fund shirts will be loaded for Temple. I also understand that they have been moving so well, we will most likely be placing another order soon! Thanks to everyone for your support!!!

Interesting show this time. Just after the B-25's and B-17 did their thing, the pyro from that act spread into the dry grass (fire department didn't pre-burn a large enough area) which really took off in the gusting to 27 mph wind! Lucky it was on the downwind side of our runway, so we all recovered with no problem. Airshow on hold for 2 1/2 hours while the fire trucks raced back and forth across the runway with water. That cancelled all but the Viper demo and heritage flight. The Blastards had to do something with the unspent pyro, so the F-16 driver came in low and fast, and got probably the biggest pyro shot any Viper driver has ever had!

Sunday was a big disappointment for us though. The crowd never showed. Sunday is always a smaller crowd, but I guess Mother's Day saw people making other plans with their mom. It was a great show for me as I got to fly my first demo in the B-25 at the controls.

Mike- I came hunting for you a couple of times... Sorry I never connected.
Met or saw other WIX folks there- Vlado, Lady02pilot, me109me109, and fighter_ace06.

TEXAS RAIDERS lost a fuel boost pump to the #3 engine after the show on Saturday and that set up an HEROIC EFFORTS opportunity!

Fortunately we were able to fly home instead of renting vans.

Sure enjoyed seeing the two PT-19s.

LOL I went over to Raiders once, but didn't see you! I was told that someone from her crew was asking if I were there, but they couldn't remember who it was. Now that the mystery is solved, I'm sad that I didn't find out it was you. I would have tracked you down for sure! We had a smaller than normal crew for Temple, so I was busy bouncing back and forth between the Rose and the PX tent.

Ron Dietes told me about the #3 fuel pump when he came to see if we had a speed handle and a bolt that could help Raiders out. Sorry we didn't, but we have added those to our list of items to possibly add to our fly-away kit. I'm glad that at least you were able to get the B-17 to limp all the way back to her hangar, it's much easier to work on a plane at home!

Mike,

Is it true that there might be a minor mx squawk on the Rose that's going to keep y'all from making Hondo this year? Someone told that to one of the organizers who I talk to regularly.

Ryan

Good show. Since there have been no photos posted, here's a few from my cell phone.

Image
On my way there. 4500ft over Gods Country.

Friday night. My L-5G next to Mark Todds SNJ-6.

Image
L-Birds and PTs running up during the show.

Image
Buzzin' Cuzzin' and Bum Steer. Cool seeing two 78th FG mustangs in one place.

Great weekend. Beth and friends did a great job.
Image
T-6s. We had 6 of them there.

Gee, no pics of the big fire? I told Beth that she might not have the record for the longest Wall Of Fire, but she sure must have it for the longest Wall Of Smoke!

Oh, and Ryan, the minor problem has turned out to be a little more major than we hoped it would be. Won't be coming to Hondo for sure, but I'll be there in the U-11. I'll be bringing the engine fund raising "Save The Rose" T-shirts, so everyone who is there, PLEASE consider buying one, or dropping a buck or two in the donation can!

My little brother made it there and took these photos ( the B-25 co-pilot looks too tall):

And I suppose Beth would get upset if I didn't post a pic of that other B-25:
