Just stop and think of when you last saw an established organization advertising for pilots and volunteers? Why would they need to advertise when other organizations seem to have no trouble finding both. That's all I have to say.

Thx,
R.K.

I'm typed on the B-25 and T-6.

Bit of a travel from Brisvegas unless they paid my fares! :drinkers:

I wonder if it's because of their somewhat remote location? Marathon is in the Florida Keys. Perhaps not a lot of warbird-qual'd pilots living in the area?

I wish them well. Maybe they can get some college kids living off their parents to come work for free. No shortage of those in this area. I'm in aviation full time and havent had a salary or insurance in 3 years. SO I don't appreciate airline pilots, and college kids doing stuff for free that takes away from us that are working by the day and flight hour to make a modest living. THe U.S. is in a recession possibly heading towards a depression. It seems dumb to work for free right now.

Ryan, since you used to work with them on their website, it sounds like they may have some issues. That's too bad.

So, what about these paying warbird gigs that you can make a 'modest living' off of? I'd sure love to find one of those.

Since I'm fairly well acquainted with the mechanical aspects of T-6s and B-25s I may
run away from home to the Keys and just live and the beach and catch my dinner in my
off time

Yeah Randy, There are some airplanes worth flying for free. P-51, Spitfire, and so on. Too often, in the civvy world guys are operating aircraft where when they figure their business model, it includes the pilot, mechanic or other aviaton professional working for free or almost nothing. These same people oftenwaste thousands of dollars on otherlifestyle choices or business decisons.
I can tell you some horror stories about how aviational professionals are being treated in the civvy world right now. Stay in and make General!

I'm aware that there are plenty of for-profit aviation businesses that exploit pilots and maintainers who are trying to build experience and hence will accept paltry wages and rough working conditions.

I'm also aware that some warbird operators take advantage of the long line of people who are willing to turn a wrench or fly for nothing, as evidenced in Chuck's post on the previous page.

Unfortunately, those people are not taking money out of the pockets of the 'professionals' by offering their services for free. There are no working 'professional warbird pilots' who are going hungry right now because there are a bunch of punks who will go fly warbirds for free and undercutting their living.

I think there's a huge difference between the two.

Unfortunately, not gonna happen. I can all ready see the sunset of my career visible on the horizon.
