Don't get too excited, comments on the Internet Movie Database say that it's made by Disney (which owns Pixar) but not Pixar itself and will be a direct to DVD release. That means it will be playing in the back seats of minivans across the country.

Appearently they'll tag a preview, which will set up the story and introduce the characters, onto the Cars 2 DVD when that is released (probably around Christmas). Trying to "prebuild" a kids audience.

I can't wait to see it, and am only disappointed because it won't be on the big screen for my family to enjoy.

What Internet Movie Database did you see this on?

aeroeng

Here's a link to the movies site with a lot of pictures of the planes. Pretty cool for kids and parents with young kids.

from the youtube website "Planes - Trailer 1 ..." This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Disney.

The hills in the scenes' background are shaped like B-17s.

They are tying it into the airshow industry to draw hype it seems. We'll get to see it at Jones Beach. The article also has a link to other airshow where the air tractor will perform:

I also heard there will be a preview screening at OSH.

Maybe it's just the paint scheme on Dusty, but it reminds me more of a turbo - prop Cessna AgTruck than anything else. Sans the wing struts, of course. My dad flew an AgTruck years ago that was in those colors.

I don't think the grandkids are going to have any problem getting me to go see it :) If they release it in 3D, I think it's going to look very impressive.

Just as a point of interest, my friend and former neighbor John Kahrs is one of Pixar's top animators (he was an Oscar winner 2013), and I'm sure he will be heavily involved in "Planes," just as he was in "Cars." He's an experienced pilot, a fellow Falco-builder (though he ran out of time to get very far on his project), Cessna 180 owner, high-performance sailplane owner, etc.
