Re: Mid-air at Duxford, Pilots ok

From news posted in the last months on this forum, Big Beautifull Doll was sold and ferried to "Meier Motor" to be polished.
Except if the new owner is french, I suppose that the plane was German owned.

Or It's not Big Beautifull Doll but Nooky Booky who collided with the Skyraider ;-(

Sad day indeed

Photo sequence on Flypast forum of pilot baling out of a/c, clearly show it to be Big Beautiful Doll.

Plane in question that crashed is D-FBBD (ex G-HAEC), owned by Air Fighter Academy GmbH, maintained (and beautifully polished) by Meier Motors

Sad loss of aircraft but great the pilot is OK

Broken back or severed control lines perhaps....?? looking at the Skyraider wing shaped hole in the underside of the fuselage behind the air scoop....

I am glad both pilots are ok, but DAM^! Am I getting sick of hearing about warbirds going down this year! It seems like all those safe years we have had took the luck away from us this year...

I still say KEEP THEM FLYING, however. I am very sad at another loss of a beautiful bird.

Lets keep things in perspective. It is a relief that everyone walks away.
This was a human caused incident.
We all want, and I hope strive for, safe flying whether it is an airshow or not.
As a human the emotional desire not to see this is a given. To prevent such events takes putting safety as a priority. In whatever environment or activity we are involved in.
Time will tell on why it happened.
Hopefully lessons will be learned so it won't happen again.
Lets all be careful out there!

It's not just the performers either. Snohomish County Search & rescue is trying to figure out how to recover the bodies of a father and son who crashed enroute from Spokane WA. to the fly-in @ Arlington. The crash is in a very steep and rugged area East of Verlot WA.

darn! Glad everybody's OK! Sad about the plane, but when it comes down to it, a human life is worth far more than a hunk of tin. I just found out a couple days ago that one of the civilian aerobatic planes at our airshow here last weekend lost an aileron in flight. Fortunately the pilot was able to land safely. Actual damage must have been minor, as I watched him perform the next day.

Stay safe, everybody!

There are a couple of acts (one I've seen is a Taylorcraft) that have that happen deliberately.

The video of the accident is pretty incredible. It will be interesting to hear what the Mustang pilot has to say... Certainly looks like an entirely avoidable accident.
