I'm intrigued. How does one become an 'ex-life member'?

I know of three ways for someone to become an 'ex-life member' of an organization:

1. Voluntary termination of membership by the member (they quit)
2. Involuntary termination of membership by the organization (they get "fired")
3. Death (obviously not the case here)
