To help clarify things, I'm posting an image of Curtiss SBC-3 dive bombers photographed aboard USS Enterprise (CV-6) during flight operations off Hawaii in September, 1940 by Life magazine photographer Carl Mydans. This picture and more can be found at the Life online photo archive, hosted by Google here ...

I guess I was wrong.Maybe it was the Vought V-93S Corsair biplane I had remembered. Hey,those salesman and lobbyists did a good job for Curtiss aircraft back in the 1930's. Did Thailand didn't buy any Brewster products back then?

wherein a Utah coed is punished for fragrantly getting a tan "above the knees" in front of her male peers.
Flagrantly. If it was fragrant - OK not gonna go there.
Back OT. Any record of an SBC ditching off someplace like NAS North Island or somewhere along the US coast?

Sometimes my unintentional jokes are the best. Freudian slip there, for sure!
Still, glad someone noticed the funny article in addition to the planes. Sometimes you focus on the machines to the detriment of the context of the times. All you have to do is take a look at that article, then take a gander as you walk down the street. Doesn't take long to think, "my, how things have changed!"

I know the planes are on pg 30 of the quoted article...but I feel I wouldn't be doing my aviatorly duty without pointing out page 29, wherein a Utah coed is punished for fragrantly getting a tan "above the knees" in front of her male peers. Hi-freakin-larious.
Back to the SBCs...
Three hurrahs for Ruth Gleave!
Good find...

Thats a shame cos I thought he was referring to the WW2 type of which I know the whereabouts of an ecellent example.
Should be recovered and displayed. Has all the instrument panels still in it because of its remoteness but I am sure with so many go get em types here that wouldn't be a problem.
For some reason I've started to sing Monty Pythons version of "I'm a lumber jack and I'm OK". But seriulsy, send email to peter @reevers.com.au and could help.
cheers
