Good to hear there were no injuries or deaths. Hope nothing too significant or valuable was loss considering.

Hey Jack- Is that the building where all of the engineering documents and blueprints for the Spruce Goose were kept? Sure hope not.

  Looks like whatever was in the building involved a pretty fair amount of processed hydrocarbon substance-

Looks like a H-51 was the only airframe lost, but the other artifacts were special too :(

Sikorsky H5-H 49-1999

I played on it as a kid and got Harry Doan to buy it.

I'm very depressed...

A terrible loss to be sure, but at least no one was hurt...and it sounds like it could have been a lot worse (I can't help but remember the Yankee fire.)

What kind of shape was it in?

And did it come from the Oregon helicopter restorer (whose name I can't recall) as the other older non-ex-Evergreen helicopters?

that would be the late great Jack Lenhardt one of the true greats of early warbird restoration.

Good thing Evergreen grounded all of their collection so it could be safe and sound on the ground where nothing bad ever happens...

Glad nobody was badly injured or killed. When I shipped the gun collection from Arizona to McMinnville back in 1990 or 91, there was a significant amount of ammo that went along with it. Mike and I did our best to shoot as much of it up as we could but there was still a pretty big pile left. I assumed most of the remaining inventory would have been shot up by now but looking at the size of that fire, I wonder if some of it was still there.
