has the FAA shutdown affected the warbird community?

I'm just wondering if all this folderol has affected the guys in the hangars. I can't see taht much has changed but I am not really very knowledgable...Just curious.

It won't affect those trying to make sure the operators stay within the lines. Ops inspectors, maintenance guys, etc... are all still working, as are ATC essential personnel.
What it will effect, is progress, like folks trying to get a new company started, a new operation approved, etc...

I see this board as a blending of history and operational stuff. I like and appreciate the history, but as a pilot and a board member of a flying squadron I am vitally interested in the operational side of warbirds. That's one of the unique things about WIX that has the potential to make it great, and folks need to keep it in mind. I see that as an underlying issue that creates the unique conflicts we occasionally have here.

The side of the FAA that most of us deal with (including the Airplane Certification Offices) is still up and running and are not affected in any way by the "FAA Shutdown".

The shutdown affected the offices, engineers and personel who work on the airports side of FAA. That is, those who handle design of airports and things connected to that area including the NextGen group.

I don't think so. I was in their office last Tuesday... I think they'd have been a lot less cheerful if they had been working without pay.

Our FAA Flight Inspection Field Office (Flight Check) has one pilot and three mechanics on furlough (which means they are not working and not getting paid). It all depends on what specific accounting line item is funding your employment position.
