Tom ... thanks ... your hat was mailed on Thursday ... the back was personalized per your request .

A quick update on the hat ... The Yellow Rose nose art embroidery contains 9 colors and 14,101 stitches and it takes just about 45 minutes to embroidery each hat ... the adjustable back is a cloth stap with a buckle for adjustment ..(not a plastic piece)

We are now doing the 24 hats for the Flight Crew ... and once finished it will be up to the Squadron if I should send them all to Texas or hold some back for Personalizingand direct mailing from here.

Once gone from here, no more personalization ..

Thanks, Jerry

So, if you want your cap, and want your name on it, get it now! I'm sure if you show up at the Reunion in your Rose cap, it will make a difference! I plan on being there, and I know if I'm there, you'll get more than a nickle tour!

'Morning Jerry,

I received my hat this weekend and it truly is a beauty! The personalized embroidery above the backstrap is really excellent...a great font (not just plain ol' lettering, but a very classy type of lettering). Lots of positive comments and "where can I get one?" questions when I wore it out at Paine Field over the weekend. Thanks for fixin' me up with a GREAT hat...now I just gotta get me to Texas to see Yellow Rose fly again.

I highly recommend getting one of these caps...it's a good 'un! :supz:

Many thanks Jerry! :drink3:

Tom,

Thanks for the kind words ... the gal who digitized it for me did a great job on a rather tough design ... If anyone else shows any interest, just give them my email address as it will be a short while before I finish the Flight Crew Hats .. and anyway we can help out the squadron will be just great ...

The price will be the same and as long as I have some here, the personalization is free of charge ..

I can't wait to see here in Urbana and the Museum for next year's Doolittle Reunion.

Hey Everybody!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we brought the Yellow Rose home today from Georgetown. It's been a long, hot job getting her ready, but a small, hardcore group got the job done. We pulled together a kickass flight crew and she was in the hangar in San Marcos by lunchtime.

Saturday, we plan to give her a good bath. She's been in a hangar, but she picked up a heavy coat of dust and grime over the past few months. The flight back was gear down since we had to open the hydraulic system to change the engine, and didn't have jacks available for a good retract test. We'll give her some TLC this week, including a thorough retract test

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow.

We need all the help we can get in paying for this new engine. Please come out to the Cobra Den, or check out the Pilot Mall website, and get a "Save the Rose" shirt. We'll gladly take donations, too!

Thanks to you all for your interest and support for the Yellow Rose!!

Ray,

That's great news. The embroidered Nose Art Flight Crew hats are now finished and I will be talking to Mike shortly about the mailing.

Meanwhile ... we still have personalized hats available for sale to the public ... They are in conjunction with the Yellow Rose Squadron and once the hats are sent to Texas, the personalization will no longer be available.

To date, only 3 Wixer's have purchased 4 hats ... Really not the support expected.

Anyone still interested, PM me with your email address and I'll send an invoice thru paypal ..

I would also like to add that the artwork for these was sent by Chris. We all know how outstanding his work is.

Also my thanks to Chad for his artwork sent for the Grissom planes. He too does outstanding work ... However, with the lack of interest on "Yellow Rose", we have placed those in moth balls for now.

As we had planned, the Yellow Rose got a good bath today. It sure is good to have her back home. The hangar has looked empty without her. We're short one Tora bird right now but it is clear that we're over crowded already.

The wash crew did a fantastic job. You don't realize how big she is until you have to wash her.

Image

The Stearman in the background got a cleaning, too. That's Bill Fier, one of our pilots, up on the B-stand. He's smart enough to know if he's working up there, he won't get a shower like the guys working from the ground...

When we finished the wash job and got her inside, we immediately set about replacing the brake assembly on the right main gear. It has been leaking badly and we've been planning to do it. Monday, we'll give her some more TLC as we prepare for the last part of the airshow season. We have the jacks ready for the retract test, too. There are a number of little tweaks we want to make before we turn her over completely to Operations to make noise and (we hope) money!

Thanks!
