I imagine the LBF will gladly accept Stimulus Funds. :D

Isn't Brooks restoring the B-17 found in the Canadian river?
This is different than that?

Yeah, I was gonna wait a bit longer to post pics until we got bulkhead 3 and the new longerons in the jig.

Flight deck is mostly shot together, we'll start shooting bulkhead 3 tomorrow, with the goal to get it and the new longerons in the jig early next week.

The bomb bay is from the Labrador bird, we'll start evaluating it next week to see what can be repaired, and what needs to be replaced. Most of the heavy structure is in reasonable shape.

There's always folks interested in the B-17 here and ready to see your pics!

And there's plenty of room in the Retro Aviation Hangar for another B-17 restoration thread :drink3:

So, just to clarify...Mr. Brooks is working on a B-17F and the Labrador B-17G?

No, one airplane. Lucky13 is building the F model. He's still in the parts gathering, jig building stage.

The plan before 6/13 was to rebuild the Labrador B-17G as a G model internally with a stinger tail and no chin turret. Hadn't made a decision on the waist windows - staggered or opposite. It would look somewhat like a F model.

After 6/13, that plan is under review, and we may go back to a G model chin turret. Until that decision is made, I will be working on the cockpit and bomb bay.

Std disclaimer: All plans subject to change, YMMV, etc

Does this imply there are components salvagable from the remains of Liberty Belle that would be reused? My condolences to everyone for the loss of LB.
