When I first heard about this Saturday evening I was completely shocked. Things like this put you in a bad mood because you feel like you lost a family member.

Happy flying in the big blue sky in the sky Art.

I helped marshall this aircraft out at the Indianapolis Airshow in August. Sad news, indeed. PJ

Very sad. Art's name is one that's been associated with the warbird movement for a long time.

Prayers and condolences.

My heart aches for Art's family, and the whole PoF crew.

This hits a little closer to home than most. Blue Skies and Tailwinds, Art... you will be missed.....

This bothers me greatly because it does hit close to home. Art was always nice to me and a great guy to talk to. I remember a few years ago he went to one airshow and I asked him about it and he said "oh yeah that was exciting" in a sarcastic manner. I often think about that silly quote....I was just a few days before the accident. I've known the guys at the POF for a long time too and I've been watching that airplane fly for over 20 years. It's sad. I found it ironic and was quite taken aback when Andy Rooney's topic Sunday night on 60 minutes was how unatractive overhead power lines are.

My condolences to the Vance family and everyone at POF. I live 60 miles east of the crash site and had just seen the plane on display two weeks ago at the TN Museum of Aviation. The terrain of the area is very rough. That stretch of I-40 is hilly and heavily wooded. This report has video from the crash site and eyewitness reports:

My deepest sympathy to Art and his family.
God Speed.

I just read this after a nice long weekend. What horrible news. My sympathies to the family for the loss of their loved one. My sympathies to the Planes of Fame for the loss of their colleague and aircraft. If WIX were to fly a flag it would certainly be at half mast.

Typical idiot witness in the News video, "able to see inside the cockpit as it flew by, totally out of control".

Gotta love the Media. Apparently plane was based at Chico, not Chino. Saw another clip where it was identified as a F-14 Hellcat.

Gods Speed Art!
