The RAF-style camouflage pattern used on Flying Tigers planes was applied at the factory. Curtiss employees created large rubber mats to mask parts of the wings and fuselage as the green over tan was sprayed on. FHC staffers and painters made their own set of mats to get the “camo pattern” just right. They even intentionally created inconsistent lines where the fuselage and wings met—they were painted individually at the Curtiss factory.
