Hi All,

Yes, another spitfire part up for identification for those who like detail.

This is part was manufactured by super-marine. The "6S" on the inspection stamp is that of the super-marine. It has numbers all over it. The 300 being spitfire and the 34 referring to the part being located in the Dashboard & instrument panel section. It also has another number on the back (SHT23) and am not sure what this number is referring to. See pictures.

Any help identifying it would be appreciated as I don't have access to the schematics.

Thanks

The Sht23 refers to the drawing for that specific part.
The 30034 is a group assy and the sht23 is the specific part drawing for that part that is in that assy.

You and me both.
Many don't seem to exist. Particularly for the MkXVIII.

Don't immediately recognise it as part of the instrument panel arrangement but it does look a lot like the pitot mast (less pitot head, extension pipes and clamps) from under the port wing.

Yes,

That is it. Its the Pitot tube mast. Well done JoeSmith.

What threw me was the part number referring to the instrument and dash board section of the aircraft.

Thanks

BTW, the company was 'Supermarine'. One word, capital 'S'. Hyphenating the two parts as you have will eliminate a lot of useful returns when searching databases, or online, and is actually a generic term to refer to something above water.

HTH!

30034/232 is the Part No. for the outer covering, whilst 30034 SHT. 123 would be the General Assembly (G.A.) drawing, ie the complete item.

Hi Konig, No worries :) . You have a nice relic there. More often than not it seems that when one comes across an old pitot mast you find the pitot mast snapped off or bent at the clamp location.
