P-51D Yippee

Wed Nov 23, 2011 4:00 am

Some time ago I found an item (a film) on eBay where one of the subjects was an airshow in the late 50s/ early 60s. The stills in the description showed amongst others a P-51 landing and taxying, and it carried the legend "YIPPEE" underneath the wings. Pretty much like the 5000th P-38. I did contact the guy who bought the film, but on close inspection he said there were no identifying marks in the short clip to say which 51 this was. So, over to you guys. Does this sound like a 51 that you remember? I seem to recall from back then that the scenery looked east coast rather than west coast, but that could be a memory lapse!
