Was coming back from lunch a bit ago and was really surprised when I saw the B-17 Liberty Belle parked at the FBO's ramp on the east side of the airport. I guess she's in town to do rides, etc. I probably will try to get down and see her this week-end, if she's still here.

You are correct Rare Bear. We'll arrive Fri. to fly rides on Sat and Sun. The airplane will then travel to Winston-Salem on Mon. and will be available for flight experiences on Sat. and Sun., Oct. 29th and 30th.

B25PBYGUY,

Are you guys going to make it to Southern California with "Liberty Belle" some time?

Eric

I hear the P-Memphis Belle (N3703G) is heading out to the west coast soon. I hope it doesn't stay long!

Anybody have anymore info on this?

Eric, there was some speculation that we may head out there early next spring. The best place to remain aware of the Liberty Belle schedule is at libertyfoundation.org., since its a rather fluid endeavor with multi-faceted challenges on occasion. I'm just one of the pilots and the schedule changes for us too, requiring some flexibility. I'm confident the airplane will be out there at some point in '06.

Thanks

I can see it right out my office window at squadron. Interestingly enough, when the press ride was being done on Monday, my ops officer called me in to tell him what kind of plane it was! Kinda sad when you think about it.

Maybe I should mosey over there this weekend and take a peek! I'm ground bound at the moment anyhow! I looked it over at Michigan and was pretty impressed with it.

Went over to the FBO, Corporate Wings, yesterday morning to see if I could get some photos, but they wouldn't even let me go out onto the ramp. Said I couldn't go unless the crew was there. I could see some folks out by the plane, but I didn't want to stir up any hate and discontent by asking if that was the crew, and if not, why were they allowed to be there.

I had all kinds of ID with me. DOD ID card, NAVFAC ID card, pilot's license, Fire Dept ID. Still didn't cut any mustard with them.

Is this a policy made by the aircraft owners, or by the FBO?

Walt, when I crewed the airplane during its Atlanta visit we did not let anyone in the airplane without a crew member present. I can't speak for the acting crew now, but this sounds like the FBO is following someone's instructions. It also might be an airport security issue. Hope you do get to go inside, Don Brooks folks have done a really great job putting this thing back together.
Best Regards
Robbie :D
