are any ww 2 era restored flying boats qualified or allowed to make water landings?? i heard that is a common wrinkle in operating them.

Well, technically speaking Tom, any registered WW2 vintage Flying Boat
would be allowed to land on water, as that is the only way for them to return to
earth..other than the "smoking hole" option, of course. The other mentioned
examples(except Mars), are Amphibians. Flying Boats require "beaching gear"..amphibians
carry 'em with'um.
