Anyone working on an F-89 static or flying?

Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:19 am

Just wondering as we have one at our museum. It has no wings, and the museum is trying to figure out what to do with it.

Awaiting your call. I just don't want to see them go to the scrap man. That is against my religion.

Chris,

I sent over a couple of PMs, if you still haven't received them, I can e-mail you direct. You can PM me your e-mail address if that works better for you.

Thanks,

Steve

The Texas Air Museum in San Antonio needs a nose. They have a early 89 with a gun nose, it was on display at Lackland for years. When lackland got rid of it, the USAF kept the nose (why?..beats me). I don't know how much is missing...might be quite awyas back...which your ac seems to have.
I think that's the only thing they need...and your parts could mean the difference between it going back on display or ending up as scrap.
Yes, I know it won't be correct...but the wrong nose is better than no nose at all. And 89s are too rare to let that happen.

At one time the Kalamazoo Air Zoo had a complete F-89 tail assembly (possibly two.) That was several year ago though..don't know if they still have them.
