Let me guess, you pay them and assume all the financial risk, then you get 25 percent of the proceeds. Oh, and by the way, since these are in a Canadian lake you don't get to keep them even if you do actually find them. And you know they are there because that guy's uncle talked to a guy who said he knew a guy that heard they landed in one of ten thousand Canadian lakes that was frozen over and sunk undamaged before they could be fueled up and flown out and the guy taking your money is sure that he has pinpointed the right one.

Don't knock it..Beavers are worth a fortune.

Like P-51s, they rarely die. If wrecked they're rebuilt and restored (even if they're 90% new).
If they were Beavers, you could probaly get your money back ASAP (faster than a P-51, etc) from one of the many rebuild shops.

KENMORE AIR's headquarters in Kenmore WA. has DHC-2 fuselages stacked like cord wood awaiting rebuilding/refurbishment and they are the biggest seaplane airline in the world flying BEAVERS. OTTERS, piston and turbines out of Seattles Lake Union.
Lots of 'failure' aircraft went North and if they earned a living, they stayed and worked hard for decades, there was one airmail contract in the Anchorage area that for years was renewed based on the continued use of one particular FAIRCHILD 71 on floats. Lots of one offs and one ofs laying in the bush or at the bottom of a lake in Canada or Alaska.

The first thing I want to say is that I am in complete agreement with all the above.

But having a really ironic sense of humor; the thought popped in my head "I wonder how we will feel 5 years from now when it comes to light that 4 absolutely pristine A-20s ( that were bound for Russia) were rescued because of this operation? ( Or just name your airframe)".

We all do remember "the boy who called wolf"? There is a reason they tell those fairy tales ( apt isn't it!!!!)

A few years ago there was a story around about four P-39's in a lake up around a place called Norman Wells, NWT, but the guys in charge didn't have a clue and there was far and away more holes in the story than substance. Never say never though...

In the mid-70s I visited and they had just bought a bunch from AMARC...still with Vietnamese mud and Arizona dust on them.

I agree. I was more than a little sceptical aboutthe P-40 found in the desert.
And we'll see about the Burma Spitfires...
Years ago, I was told of a 1914 Stutz Bearcat on a farm in Oregon. I wanted that car but figured it was "too good to be true".
