Here are a few pictures from today's open house at Meacham Field. Nothing special, but here they are. The temperature was about 107 deg F today. Not a good day to be out in the sun! I spent the day mostly inside the VFM oven, er, I mean, hangar. No breeze at all today... just sweltering heat and choking humidity!

Nice Stearman (shown on takeoff after the event was over):

The most beautiful Cessna 170 I've ever seen! The polish on this airframe was literally blinding in the Texas sun!

A shot across the ramp from the tug. The AT-6D (actually a RNZAF Harvard) and CAF A-26B make their home at VFM. We were on our way to tug the A-26 "home" when I shot this pic.

C-49J "Southern Cross" flew once in the morning.

This TX ANG C-130 was on hand for the event. Pic shot while they were taxiing out for takeoff.

B-25J "Pacific Prowler" was on display, but was back in the hangar before I got to the display ramp, so no pic (you all know what she looks like anyway, right?).

Anyone else have any pics to add? Please do so!

I love the 170!!!

I don't think the red aircraft is a Stinson, but without a better view of the windows and tail, I'm not sure what it is.
Interstate or Arctic Tern?

The maroon airplane is a Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser.

Thanks for the info on the Super Cruiser. I didn't have a chance to actually go up close to see it (the photo above is a long-range zoom shot).

That Cessna 170 was absolutely stunning! Check out the art deco wheel pants. They look like helmets from "The Rocketeer"! What a great looking airplane!

We came out early and stayed for @ 1/2 hour ... (the threat of 107° weather sent me home :P )
