Good day!!

Best news that we 've heard all day!! We 're rolling now that FAH 609 in undercover and in better hands!!

A small request for the paint folks, when restoring the engine panels or any panels plz pay attention to other historical markings under several coats of paint. I hope someone is documenting the step by step process with photos & log books.

The original 3 white aircraft by the cabin should still be there ..pointing down!!

Job well done folks ..including FAH 503!!!

FAH 609 Folks!

Actually is quite O.K to open-up another thread for the restoration process only. We would like to kindly request photos of the tow bar & vehicle used on that famous 17 July 2012 logistic move!!

p.s Some 43 years ago on the same date a young Capt Named Fernando Soto Enriquez nogociated the course of the 100 Hr War over the Salvadorean skies while flying that particular flying machine!!

...in due time it should look like its cousing FAH 603 Buno 123168 now under final stages of restoration in Darwin, Australia. Photo Ozfuryfan/ Mr. Graham Hoskings via Wix. c. Nov-2011

Zorro and Jack:
I don't want ANY discussion between you two in this thread. Fight your battles via PM or somewhere else.
This thread is about the restoration, and the restoration ONLY. Stick to the facts or I will lock it.

Why do I get the feeling that this "restoration" isn't going to be that nice of a job. In fact, I get the feeling that its about to go very bad by most standards. The best chance this poor airplane ever had of being properly restored, conserved or however you want to catagorize it would have been if Howard Pardue had been able to buy it when he bought all the others.

Fortunately, Hondouras has reasonable weather for preservation. I spent many years maintaining and operating airplanes down in that area. I fear that the reasonable weather is about the only positive thing happening for the future of this Corsair. However well intentioned the Hondurans are, they don't have the facilities or finances to do what they are trying to do. Certainly there are individuals down there that are more than capable of doing the work, and do it well. They just don't have the backing to do it right and it's probably not something that is going to change.

B-29/T28 II:

Good Day!

Understand your point of the big picture!

The plan is to do a partial restoration. Engine Ck & overhaul as needed as well as the restoring of the canopy & fabric areas.

That FAH 609 has enjoyed fair weather is correct. As T-28II said..... that is now under shelter & under better managment is also a plus factor.

I trust that a partial restoration & engine crank-up will go well with proper training & F4U maint supervision. Tech data included!!!
