Hi all--
Sad news and much sadder news, both connected to Brantford airport here in Ontario.
Yesterday morning a Navion, CF-TRM, owned by a Toronto resident and based at Burlington Airpark, crashed near Brantford airport, killing the two people aboard; names not yet released in the media. The Navion wore stars-and-bars but I don't know whether or not it had been an L-17.
Less sad, of course, but noteworthy nonetheless, the last of the former Millardair C-54s long stored in the open at Brantford has now been cut up. I visited the field Saturday afternoon to see the sorry sight of the forward fuselage and centre section of C-54 C-GFMQ lying nose-down; nearby was part of one nacelle assembly presumably from C-GFFQ which had been cut up several years ago (the nose said to have been slated for use in a movie). Two former Millardair C-117s were also present, minus their engines, near the Gilbert Aircraft hangar; these were C-GGKE in Millardair markings and C-GDOG in Gateway markings (Gateway Airlines had operated at least two ex-Millard C-117s on cargo)...
