Hey Mark, try harder to ignore the boneheads and just keep on doing what you do. I really enjoy your photo-filled posts! You do come up with some great stuff, and a lot of it is unusual, which just makes it more interesting.

Chris I agree 100%, I browsed this website for a few years before joining and finally decided it was worth becoming a part of. Shortly after joining though I was accused of being someone else that was banned and was using another name. It was sad that I had to prove to the individual(s) that I was not who they thought I was. I sent a PM telling them who I was and where I am from! Really unfortunate that I had to do that but they were trying to get the mods to ban me and were accusing me of being a spammer! But I did not let that get in the way of me being a part of this site and meeting some really great folks that are as much into Warbirds as I am! All right enough from me. :drink3: :drink3:

This whole internet thing is still evolving. And I think it is being discovered that a rant on the internet doesn't mean very much. There's no point in ranting, and no point in reading a rant. Irrelevant.

I use this site (my thread in Vintage has over 40,000 hits) to gather information, and to spread it. Any new owner of a Fairchild 24 can learn a lot from that thread, as they note the mistakes I made during the process of rejuvenating the airplane.

I have zero interest in posts regarding personalities, or politics. I don't write 'em, and I don't read 'em.

Hang out with us Mark, us fellows that "get it" and don't beat each other up, turn away from the rest. Give it some time, stay away for a while but come back and write or post pictures to those that "get it"...On the other hand, it's got to be fun or it ain't worth the trouble, so I can appreciate how its so discouraging. Mark, the thing about some WIXers is that the history of these machines is also tied up with our family's legacy, as it is with your dad and mine, so it is very personal. It can't be any other way for us.

See Mark, it's just as we discussed earlier and these posts just reenforce that! If you check back into WIX history, you'll find lots of people who came in here, tried to take a dump in everyones hat, and once we got wise to them, we ignored them till they went away. Some by deduction, some by direct or shaded request some long timers drifted away or found other forums that appealed to them more. My take is you're a Gentleman until you prove yourself to be otherwise.
A lot of folks don't realize that they face their own worst enemy while they shave or apply their makeup in the morning

And THAT is the kind of stuff that keeps some of us coming back despite the annoyances.

I'm very pleased to see the feedback on this post. I don't think we need to have the moderators jump in all the time; but, a little SELF control goes a long way. :drink3:

Thanks all.

Well stated Pogmusic, I saw a thread by "Liberator" ( That is no longer posted) where he stated some personal feelings towards another person in his homeland and then he (Liberator) was what I can only say was "Adult Cyber Bullied" here. I'm glad the Mods took the whole thing down. If I or others here agreed or not with "Liberator" thats one thing, BUT, I do have to give him CRED. for having tough skin and sticking with WIX :drink3: ! I thought of another WIXer I've met at an airshow or 2 in TX.; Randy Wilson, CLASS ACT! and thought that someone like him would'nt have done "stuff" like that! HEY! W.W.R.D? shirts? Well everyone (and mods) thanks for letting me say this. Here's a free one: since MY MOMMY's house does'nt have a basement here in San Antonio, I'm writing this from the one at the ALAMO  , Anthony

Have we met yet? I'm in San Antonio a lot as well although not as much as previously.

For all its warts, WIX is far better than any given comment thread on Youtube.

One thing you can say for the internet: it has given us all a new, intimate and overall rather disturbing glimpse into the human psyche. I like to think of it as a giant glass jar with a brain in it...you know, like the one Igor picked up labelled "Abnormal"?

Pogmusic, thanks for your observations. A year and a half ago I posted about this subject

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=40804&hilit=letter

...it has been a lament that has come to the fore every year or so for the past 6 years that I have been posting on the board.

I find it very sad indeed that some folks just cannot seem to get along. I see it every day in real life, on the job, at church, in line at the grocery store...etc. It just amazes me how many people are just flat out jerks....it's much easier to be nice....can't we all just get along? lol..

My father in-law had a saying..."Never mind the Turkeys" ...it works for me most of the time....ignore the jerks and they're power tends to evaporate.

I don't hold out much hope that internet forums will ever be jerk free....but just maybe.... :drink3:

Fortunately WIX has several other hangar choices available. For those interested in restorations the Maintenance Hangar is your cup of tea. Call me “old school” but until I meet the guy or gal sitting in front of the keyboard for all I know they could be 12 years old living in a tent in the desert smoking dope and squeezing their zits in the mirror. The WIXers that I have met in person have all been nice people. You get out of WIX what you put into it. There are folks that work and fly airplanes and people that B. S. about airplanes and then there are folks that do both. WIX has something to offer for most.

Life is short, enjoy!

Dan

finally i am able to post again and this is what i have to say:

a recent time ago, i subscribed to an aviation page which specialization is WWII. because i liked some posts related to aviation my humble idea was to copy paste just the heading of the information and paste the link to the ones interested in follow the information. some of the postings a put here where very discussed, others not much. i didn´t know if the page provided the original information or did copy-paste from some other site, and what happened is that one administrator banned me for a month, punishing me without knowing why, as if i am the one responsible for what the page post. i just see the information and if i consider important to share here i just do what i mentioned before. but with this banning i truly considered not to do it anymore, i will just obtain the information for my own benefit, but not sharing them here for not being in trouble.
i will just see, make a comment if possible, but hardly ever post. i even consider very highly this could be my last post if that administrator see this comment. if this happen, i wish you good luck and continue enjoying aviation.

Jack,

You have attacked me in public, so I reserve the right to respond in public.

Please stop feeling sorry for yourself. I patiently explained myself to you multiple times through private messages, and gave a full explanation of my actions. If you 'don't know why' I banned you, then you mustn't have read your PMs, containing my repeated requests for you to stop posting unattributed material.

The site that you post from has links on the bottom of every article that I checked. Those links give the source, and I asked you to post those along with the second-party links that you did post. A simple request, and one which wasn't too much to ask. You responded, and repeatedly missed the point of my requests.

I asked you to do the right thing plenty of times and you repeatedly refused. I warned you that further such posts would result in you receiving a month's ban. You took no notice, so I banned you. For a month. 30 days. Hardly a life sentence.

Such action is occasionally necessary to ensure the smooth and fair operation of any discussion board. It isn't done flippantly, and it is done with full knowledge and approval of the moderation team.

You can play fair now, and be a productive and useful member. Or you can go back to cutting and pasting information while refusing to post the sources that are easily found. Your choice. You may feel hard done by. Go back and read my PMs to you. They have the answers there, patiently and repeatedly offered to you.

My requests were not unreasonable. Your behaviour and your repeated refusal to be considerate and follow the rules saw action taken. Please don't come back and cry 'poor me'. You think I'm an ogre, out to get you. Please, don't flatter yourself.
