This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I recorded the movie ‘One Who Came Back’ on Turner Classic Movies the other night and found that is includes a scene with an actual F-80 crash in the background which is then integrated into the movie.
It is a short documentary of the evacuation of a soldier wounded in Korea produced by the Disabled American Veterans (we older folks will remember their miniature keychain license plates). Starting with his arrival at a forward aid station by helicopter it eventually shows an ambulance convoy on the perimeter of an airfield with F-80’s taking off in the background. One of the F-80’s pancakes onto the runway and comes sliding to stop in a cloud of dust remaining mostly intact while his wingman in trail jettisons his bombload of napalm on the runway. Obviously not scripted!
There several notable aircraft in the movie including the C-97. I was unable to find any film clips from the movie but it is worth viewing should you come across it.

I'd like to see that.
What kind of helicopter was it...a H-5 or H-13?
And just a reminder, the DAV along with the American Legion and other groups, iare stil out there helping older...new a generation...of veterans.
They have services ranging from vans taking people to VA and doctors clinics to Service Officers helping vets work through the maze of VA paperwork.
Keep them in mind for volunteer work or donantions.
